Privacy Policy
Math Leap does not collect, share, or sell personal information about children. Student data stays on our servers and is never shared with anyone, for any reason, ever. Parents control all account information.
1. Who We Are
Math Leap is a math practice application operated by The Learning Underground, Inc., a California corporation. We provide a web portal for parents and a mobile app for student practice.

2. Who Can Use Math Leap
Parent and guardian accounts require the account holder to be at least 18 years of age. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older. Student accounts are created by parents or guardians — students do not create their own accounts and do not provide personal information directly to us.
3. Information We Collect
From Parents and Guardians
When you create an account, we collect:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Password (stored as a one-way encrypted hash — we cannot read it)
- Billing information (processed directly by Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers)
- Time zone preference
From Students
We collect only:
- A username (chosen by the parent)
- A 4-digit PIN (stored as a one-way encrypted hash — we cannot read it)
- Math session results: which questions were answered, whether answers were correct or incorrect, and session timing
We do not collect:
- Student names
- Student ages or dates of birth
- Photos or images
- Location data
- Device identifiers
- Any information that would allow us to identify a student outside of our system
4. How We Use Information
Parent information is used to:
- Maintain your account and authenticate your login
- Process your subscription payment through Stripe
- Send you session completion notifications (if you opt in)
- Respond to your support requests
- Send password reset emails
Student session data is used to:
- Display your child's practice history and progress in your parent portal dashboard
- Calculate session scores and tier progression within the app
We do not use any information for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose other than operating Math Leap for you.
5. Information We Do Not Share
We do not sell, rent, license, or share any personal information with any third party for any reason, with the following narrow exceptions required to operate the service:
- Stripe processes payment transactions. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data. We share only what is necessary to complete your transaction (name and email for customer identification).
- Our web hosting provider stores data on servers we control. They provide infrastructure only and have no access to your data for their own purposes.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by a valid court order, subpoena, or applicable law. We will notify you to the extent permitted by law.
No student data is shared with anyone under any circumstances, including the narrow exceptions above.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Math Leap is designed for use by children under the direction and supervision of their parents or guardians. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Children do not create accounts. All accounts are created by parents or guardians who are at least 18 years old.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
- Student session data (question answers and scores) is collected on behalf of and under the direction of the parent or guardian who created the account.
- Parents may request deletion of all student data at any time by contacting us at support@mathleap.app.
- We do not display advertising to students or use student data for any commercial purpose.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
